We are currently finalising our Response to Submissions (RTS), which responds to feedback received during the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) public exhibition period. The RTS will be made publicly available, and will support the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure’s assessment and the Independent Planning Commission’s decision-making.
EnergyCo has now announced the outcomes of the South West Renewable Energy Zone (SW REZ) access rights process. Junction Rivers was not awarded access rights through this competitive tender, which received more than 15GW of proposed renewable generation and storage projects – significantly more than the available capacity.
As a result, Junction Rivers will now be considered a medium-term opportunity, subject to future upgrades to transmission infrastructure and broader REZ planning. While this is a setback, Windlab remains committed to the project and will continue to engage with landholders, councils, and the wider community.
